Twenty-one hours of stage I labor, four hours of delivery.
Mother went from a confused princess to a highly competent coyote dam in a matter of minutes.
I have been dismissed for the moment. Coyotes don't have the same staffing requirements as do princesses.
If your impulse this morning is to the pick up the phone to convey congratulations, don't.
That's what blogs are for! Congrats on the babies, and sympathy for those that didn't make it. She's a beautiful coyote mom. (much better term than "Tiger Mother" don't you think?)

ReplyDeleteDanny Boy's dam and maternal grandam (and one litter sister) are all very small. They were far and away the smallest ES I'd ever seen until ONB. I'm not sure what the difference is between a "runt" and a dog who just draws the genes for "tiny" but Shady and DeeDee never had any health issues or any sort of failure to thrive due to their size. (I didn't raise grandma Lady but I'm sure Darlene would tell you she was the same way - full tilt boogie from the get-go.) I'll keep my fingers crossed your "runt" takes after that side of the family because "awesome" seems to be closely tied to the "tiny" genes in this line.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Condolences. What a beautiful litter, hoping to hear many updates! Wistfully dreaming about Rosie puppies... I decided to go with an ES that was less "Rosie-esque". May all of these warm little wiggling bean bags grow up healthy and find homes well suited to them.
