But it's right there where I can go visit and use my eyes. I live in a rural county and believe me, if someone thinks there's something fishy going on, they are not reticent to talk about it to the paper.
Personally, IRS forms are not the way to go for me and I'd still encourage people to give locally first. As far as the vets go, well, really, either you trust them or you don't.

CathyAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810033429461791744.post-44854766487492020622014-03-12T22:52:55.256-04:002014-03-12T22:52:55.256-04:00So how do you know that your local humane society ...So how do you know that your local humane society is being run ethically, responsibly, efficiently? That the pet food you drop into the barrel isn't being fed to the dogs at the dogcatcher's backyard puppymill? Or that the vets who gladly take your money aren't spending it on candy and hookers?

Heather Houlahanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13891198124130533198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810033429461791744.post-24093270837473894612014-03-12T07:33:24.125-04:002014-03-12T07:33:24.125-04:00Reading IRS forms is likely to give me a giant hea...Reading IRS forms is likely to give me a giant headache. I hate that stuff! I don't have time for it either. I'd rather buy actual food and drop it in the LOCAL Humane Society barrel at the grocery store. I've given bits of money to vets for "indigent" pet care, and they gladly take it. Every time I see that HSUS ad with shivering dogs and beat up cats it makes me angry, as we all know, those are animals someone else has rescued and cared for, not the HSUS. And I think of how those dollars they steal could be used locally. Even if you don't get a FREE bag. FREE my fanny. You just paid for a bag that could have been used on food and medical services.
CathyAAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5810033429461791744.post-56509853580949324482014-03-03T22:34:05.760-05:002014-03-03T22:34:05.760-05:00Great information!
